Stealth Bonger

SCENE: Behind a small bush on the patio, outside the Club. They whisper.

MIKE: I cannot believe you talked me into this. My feet are fucking freezin’.

RAY: Shut your whinging.

MIKE: In case you hadn’t forgotten we do have a bit of form here. If those bouncers get hold of us, we are officially mince.

RAY: We’re not doing anything wrong Michael, we’re just looking out for a friend.

MIKE: Can you see them yet?

RAY: No, not that many people have arrived. I swear, if he touches her, I’m gonna…

MIKE: What are you gonna do?

RAY: Express my disappointment.

MIKE: You could have done that when he asked you if he could bring her here.

RAY: True. I had other things on my mind, besides, he’s clever. I couldn’t really say no, he uses Trudie as a cover.

MIKE: Do you really think he cares?

RAY: About Trudie? No. About Beth, I think we both know the answer to that.

MIKE: You don’t exactly go out of your way to keep her Ray.

RAY: I know what your saying, I’ll admit that, but that’s not the point.

MIKE: What is the point?

RAY: You don’t mess with a mates’ bird, simple. Look there they are.

Mike and Ray scamper closer to see what is going on.

RAY: Fuck, they’re coming outside.

MIKE: Is it non-smoking in there? That’s funny cos we’ve smoked in there. There’s other people smoking in there.

RAY: (whispers angrily) Shut the fuck up about smoking. Christ I swear…Where are they going?

Mike and Ray follow their targets from the bushes

MIKE: They’ve stopped. Who’s he talking to?

RAY: Rocker.

MIKE: Where’s Beth going?

RAY: Follow her, I’ll stay here.

Mike scampers back following Beth. Ray stays where he is. After a few minutes Mike returns to Ray.

MIKE: Alright?

RAY: Yeah, you? What happened?

MIKE: Erm, I dunno how to, erm.

RAY: Just tell me.

MIKE: It can wait.

RAY: They’re on the move.

Mike and Ray scamper back to the patio.

RAY: Bastard. I told you. He’s hugging her.

MIKE: Ray, he’s not your problem.

RAY: I’m gonna fucking ki…

MIKE: Ray, listen for fuck’s sake. When I followed her back, Beth met this other guy. I didn’t look good.

Ray fixes his stare on Mike

RAY: (earnestly) What do you mean?

MIKE: She was kissing him, I mean really kissing him, full on like, hands everywhere.

RAY: Alright, alright, enough. Who was it?

Mike pauses.

MIKE: Him.

Mike points at the face of a man staring out of a window of the Club onto the patio. He is holding a small dog.
