1. Only 9% of Muslim applicants got an interview in a recent study. Any organisation that really wants to be non-discriminatory when selecting candidates for interview, could do so in the drop of a hat. Name and personal details go one way to Personnel, the application form itself to the manager making the appointment. Obviously in many companies, those two roles are the same person but not in big companies or corporations. On the whole I think big organisations don't like their employees to have difficult decisions to make, they like to keep them in their comfort zones.
2. Oow fantastic more on the 419rs. Here at the BBC.
My favourite is still the 419eater. Have a look at the trophy room.
3. It's time to re-choose my random words should I ever bump into Derren Brown.
4. What a frustrating end to Waking The Dead. Poor as a church mouse with writers block.
5. I'm gonna start a sweep stake on my new goatee. It's usually off before it's been on a month. I find them so itchy. Any tips for goatee maintenance ladies?
6. Last night was one of the weirdest nights sleep I've had for years. I kept having these ultra vivid dreams that would wake me up. No sooner than I put my head on the pillow I'd have another one and wake up again. I lost count eventually but I do remember one dream which involved 9 suicide parachutists in Istanbul. They killed 1800 people. Hope that one doesn't come back to haunt me.
7. Ross Noble goes into my all time top three genius list. Listen to his hilarious adventures at the BBC site
8. Arghhhhhh! We are going to lose Beattie aren't we? the Guardian thinks so.
9. A friend of mine who works in Waterstones in Picadilly met Bill Clinton in the toilets. He couldn't resist it and got a picture of Bill's old man with his picture phone. I can't possibly post it.
10. I'm a bit of an uncommunicative twat at times especially on the phone and by email. It's not that I don't keep in contact, it's just that I'm no good at small talk or idle chitter chatter. I guess then that this Journal/Blog is a fantastic therapy. I certainly feel alot happier since I started it and I hope it brightens someone's day.
